HOW-TO Remove Pop-Up Windows in Internet

Pop-Up Removal Procedures (Comprehensive)
- Launch Internet Explorer.
- Click the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options
".
- In the section entitled "Temporary Internet Files", click
on "Delete Files
".
- A Dialog Box will appear. Select "Delete all offline content"
and click "OK" (This may take some time and appear to freeze).
- In the section entitled "Temporary Internet Files", click
on "Delete Cookies
".
- A Dialog Box will appear. Click "OK" (This won't take so
long).
- If you have a high-speed connection (Cable or DSL), click on "Settings
"
in the section entitled "Temporary Internet Files".
- A Dialog Box will appear. Where is says, "Check for newer versions
of stored pages:", click on "never". In the Section entitled
"Temporary Internet files folder", lower the amount of disk
space to use to 50MB or less (mine says 1MB). Click "OK".
- Click "OK" once more to leave "Internet Options
".
- While still in Internet Explorer, go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
- When the page loads, click on "Scan for updates".
- When you're done scanning, click on "Review and install updates".
- Click on the "Install Now" button. This will install all
of the critical updates which are necessary for preventing the latest
virus outbreaks. Note: Some updates must be applied alone. You will
have to repeat from step (10) if this is the case.
- Accept any agreements and reboot your computer as necessary.
- After the updates are finished and you've closed all applications,
you need to install the Ad-aware
software. Double-click on the file entitled "aaw6181".
This will install the software. Accept any default file locations.
- There should now be an icon on your desktop entitled "Ad-aware
6.0". Launch the software.
- When the software loads, there should be a link in the bottom-right
corner that says "Check for updates now". Click it. Select
"Connect" from the Dialog Box and click "Yes" to
download the updates.
- Once the updates have been performed, click on the "Start"
button from within the Ad-aware software screen. Click "Next"
to perform a smart scan.
- When the Scan is complete, click "Next". Make sure every
box is checked and click "Next" and then "OK" to
remove the spyware from your machine.
- You may close Ad-aware when you are finished.
The pop-ups should now stop. To stop them in their tracks rather than
running the above procedures again, you need to follow the steps below
to install a pop-up blocker.
- Install the Pop-Up
Stopper software. Double-click on the file entitled "PopUpStopper".
This will install the software. Accept any default file locations. There
is no need to enter an email address.
- Once installed, Pop-Up Stopper will block all pop-ups including ones
that you may need. You may force a pop-up to appear by holding down
the Ctrl key while browsing. You may also disengage Pop-Up Stopper by
selecting preferences from the pointer icon on the bottom right of your
screen.
